GEOPHYSICS & RPA

Hydrologic Solutions personnel have over 15 years of experience conducting near-surface geophysics and are certified under Transport Canada to operate Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).  Personnel are trained and experienced within various disciplines of geoscience and offer complementary services that provide additional value while limiting repeat site visits.  Delivering valuable information that is instrumental for planning and implementing a successful strategy.

Key Services

  • Electromagnetic (EM) Surveys

  • Downhole Geophysical Logging

  • Remote Piloted Aircraft - Aerial Images & Videography

EM Survey

Unlike conventional EM surveys that require multiple instruments and/or personnel to operate, the GEM-2 is a broadband EM sensor combining simplicity of use and a superior multi-layer EM delineation system that can be used for geological, environmental, and geotechnical investigations.

Advantages of Multi-Frequency EM

The GEM-2 collects in-phase and quadrature in ppm at each frequency and apparent conductivity and magnetic susceptibility.

  • Survey requires only one operator

  • Multi-frequency offering multiple depths of investigation

  • Effective for targeting zones of interest to a maximum depth of 15 m

Applications

  • Soil and Porewater Salinity Mapping (TDS, EC, sodium, chloride, and sulfate)

  • Delineating Fluid Releases

  • Locating Underground Tanks

  • Underground Utility Mapping

  • Preferential Drainage Paths

  • Geotechnical Investigations (fracture mapping, void detection, depth to bedrock)

An effective reconnaissance tool that provides additional value.

Borehole Geophysical Logging

Collect detailed borehole data while performing your next groundwater supply investigation or environmental assessment. Hydrologic Solutions operate Mount Sopris borehole logging equipment capable of logging boreholes to a depth of 500 m. Versatile and compact, borehole logging provides a wealth of information to help characterize soil and bedrock.

Available Probes

  • Spontaneous Potential

  • Natural Gamma Ray

Specialized Probes Available through Manufacturer

  • Temperature and Fluid Conductivity

  • Spinner Flowmeter

  • Heat Pulse Flowmeter

  • Sonic

  • Televiewer and Acoustic Imaging

Remote Piloted Aircraft

Collect aerial photographs and video during the next site visit. Aerial imagery provides valuable information that captures current site conditions and seasonal site variations. An effective tool for providing current aerial images to identify and map vegetation, map wetland characteristics/extents, and verifying proximity to surface water bodies.
